Getting a lot ATC’s but No Sales! What could be the Reason?

I’m getting a hell lot of ATC’s but those aren’t converting into Sales! What could be the Reason? If you’ve ever felt like that, this piece of information belongs to you.

Look, if you’re getting ATC’s then it’s a direct signal that your Ads, your product and the product page are totally fine. the problem is somewhere else. And here I’m gonna share some points which will surely help people facing this problem…

  • Checkout Page Can be a Reason

Many times people don’t even check if their store is fully functional and they just rush for running ads and due to some little problem in settings or problems at checkout page, potential customer leave without buying!

Sol: First of all, try placing an order by yourself just to make sure that everything is working smoothly. Also, reach out to Shopify support to ask what’s going at your checkout page, tell them the exact situation you’ve been facing and they will review your store and sometimes they give really useful info and tips to improve things which ultimately helps you get even better conversion.

  • Payment Options

COD issue: In some developing countries like India (and most Asian countries) people just love COD (Cash on Delivery) payment option, and as soon as they discover that there is no COD option on your store they hit the close button so ruthlessly that you won’t believe if you ever get a chance to encounter this is in front of you. So if they need to pay upfront, they simply won’t buy!

Sol: it’s simple. Either provide COD option or simply remove these countries from your targeting. In case you don’t want to give up on the huge market then you can try, target only high class (Premium) audience in such countries.

No Credit Card or PayPal option

Sol: Some people want to pay via PayPal and some from their Credit Card so make it sure to have these payment options on your sites for obvious reasons.

  • Shipping Price

Sometimes when people figure out they will have to pay an extra $15 or $20 for the fast delivery option they will leave the page immediately.

Sol: Either remove the Shipping charge or if you can’t then try to keep it as low as possible. Offering FREE Shipping is the best thing though.

  • Too High/Low Price

The price of the product can also be the reason for abandoned carts as people start buying process but when they actually have to put in Credit Card details for the payments they immediately figure out the product is over/under priced.

Sol: Try different pricing. You need to find your sweet spot. Also you can check other stores selling similar product or at least niche for the right pricing ideas. You won’t believe but sometime people not buy simply because product is available at dirt cheap price and their ego don’t let them buy the product despite of their likeness.

  • Page load Speed

During a tea break between your meeting you see a stylish looking your taste belt on FB feed, click on the Ad and after reading the description you kinda liked the belt for your new Blackberry suit, and so as the process goes, you click on Add to Cart and there comes a bar yelling, page’s loading. it’s already 10 seconds and still, it’s opening, no problem you liked the belt so 10 sec isn’t a big deal. Gosh! 30 secs pass and it’s still loading, you try reloading the page and again it’s opening for the last 25 seconds! what will you do? that’s right, F*ck it!

Page load speed is one of the most (if not the most) underrated problem that almost 95% of sellers ignore and Really it matters!

Sol: Don’t forget to check if your page load speed is good. And if it’s not then must work for it and make it fast. Don’t just spend money on FB to make Zuckerberg richer, He’s already in Top 5 richest person in the world.

This way you will know what to optimize to get more sales and better AOV.


Pro Tip: If possible, call (and if call not possible then personally mail) the abandoned orders and ask them for the reason why didn’t they completed the order, nothing can provide you the better solution than this.
